I breed Himalayans, which are closely related to Persians and share the same body type and coat length. As a Himalayan breeder, I work with cats that are always color-pointed — lighter bodies with darker points on the face, ears, paws, and tail — along with vivid blue eyes.

I also breed Exotic Shorthairs, a popular short-haired version of the Persian type. I focus on cats that have the same round face, compact body, and gentle personality as Persians but with a dense, plush short coat — that soft, teddy-bear look.

I also work with Exotic Longhairs, sometimes referred to as longhaired Exotics. They share the same structure and temperament as Exotic Shorthairs but carry a longer, flowing coat.

I breed Persians, recognized for their round faces, dense coats, and calm temperament. I focus on traditional structure and breed standards. Persians come in a wide range of colors and patterns — solids, tortoiseshell, tabby, and shaded varieties.

About Dawn – Ciemycat Cattery

Why Choose Me as Your Breeder?

Breeding Since 1999 CFA Champion Bloodlines Raw-Fed Kittens Clarksdale, Mississippi Himalayans · Persians · Exotics

Hello! I am Dawn and I am the owner of my cattery called Ciemycat, located in Clarksdale, Mississippi — more precisely in "The Heart of The Mississippi Delta." The name of my cattery is pronounced "see my cat."

I have been breeding cats and competing in various cat shows professionally since 1999, and my cats have earned champion titles in many shows over the years. As a breeder of Persians, Himalayans, Exotic Shorthairs, and Exotic Longhairs, I strive to produce cats that not only meet breed standards but also have calm, easygoing temperaments that make them wonderful family pets.

Grooming is a vital part of my program. Kittens are socialized from an early age with regular baths, blow-drying, and brushing. I also introduce gentle toothbrushing training so they become comfortable with full grooming routines as they grow. This early conditioning helps them mature into confident cats that are easy to handle and care for.

Proper nutrition is another priority in my cattery. All kittens and cats are raised on a raw diet that includes a variety of proteins to support healthy development, strong immune systems, and excellent coat quality.

Nearly all of my breeding queens and studs have earned championship titles, reflecting their structure, quality, and adherence to breed standards. My breeding is carried out with consistency and purpose — since 1999 — with the goal of improving the Persian-type breed group through careful selection, health focus, and temperament development.

With love from

Dawn & the Ciemycat family

We also breed Himalayan cats, which are closely related to Persians in both structure and temperament. In fact, most major cat registries consider Himalayans part of the Persian breed group. As a Himalayan breeder, my focus is on preserving their classic body type while working with their signature color pattern.

Himalayans are always color-pointed, meaning they have a lighter body with darker coloration on the face, ears, paws, and tail. This pattern comes from Siamese influence in their development. Another defining trait is their deep blue eyes, which are consistent across the breed. They also look very similar to the Ragdoll breed!

In terms of personality, Himalayans are very similar to Persians — calm, affectionate, and people-oriented, often enjoying quiet companionship. The main difference between Persians and Himalayans is appearance: Persians can come in many solid and patterned colors, while Himalayans are always pointed with blue eyes. Himalayans are often chosen by families who love the Persian structure but prefer the contrast and color-point look.

Exotic Shorthair

We also breed Exotic Shorthairs, often called the "short-haired Persian." As an Exotic Shorthair breeder, I focus on maintaining the same round face, short nose, and cobby body type seen in Persians, but with a dense, plush short coat.

Exotic Shorthairs were developed by crossing Persians with short-haired breeds to create a lower-maintenance coat while preserving the Persian expression and structure. The result is a cat that looks very similar to a Persian but a shorhair look!

They have a soft, teddy-bear appearance and a calm temperament that closely matches Persians. Like Persians, they come in a wide variety of colors and patterns, including solids, tabbies, torties, smokes, and shaded coats. Because of their easier coat care, Exotic Shorthairs are often a great option for families who love the Persian look but a shorthair version!

Exotic Longhair

We also work with Exotic Longhairs, sometimes referred to as longhaired Exotics. As an Exotic Longhair breeder, I focus on cats that share the same structure, temperament, and breeding background as Exotic Shorthairs, but with a longer coat.

Genetically, Exotic Longhairs come from the same lines as Exotic Shorthairs and Persians. The difference is that they carry the longhair gene, which results in a fuller, longer coat more similar to a Persian coat. Because of this, they often resemble Persians very closely in appearance.

Their temperament is just as gentle and easygoing as the rest of the Persian-type breed group — calm, affectionate, and well-suited for home companionship. In many registries, Exotic Longhairs are classified differently depending on coat length and lineage, but they consistently maintain the same round head, compact body, and soft expression that defines the breed group.

Persian

We breed Persian cats, one of the oldest and most recognized pedigreed cat breeds. As a Persian breeder, my focus is on maintaining the traditional type: a round head, large expressive eyes, short nose, and a cobby (compact) body with a long, flowing coat.

Persians are known for their calm, gentle temperament and are often described as quiet companion cats. They tend to prefer predictable, peaceful environments and enjoy staying close to their people without being overly demanding.

One of the most unique things about Persians is their wide range of colors and patterns. They can come in solid colors such as black, white, blue, cream, and red, as well as more complex patterns like tortoiseshell, tabby, shaded, and smoke varieties. Because of their long, dense coat, Persians require consistent grooming to prevent matting and maintain coat health, which is why early grooming habits are so important in my program.
